Most Oregon parents have always struggled to care for a family while also providing for one due to lack of comprehensive and universal supports from our state and federal governments. COVID-19 has only made this harder, and for many, impossible. While some new relief is available now via the American Rescue Plan, there are still major gaps and the lack of support for parents and caregivers during this crisis has had devastating impacts that will last take time to recover from.
Schools are re-opening across Oregon, which will dramatically change lives for many families in a variety of ways and also force parents and caregivers to make tough choices. As we begin to return to “normal,” we want you to know what your resources are.
Family Forward Oregon has compiled the guide below to finding, navigating, and advocating for the benefits we need as we build back better.
We know so much more is needed and invite you to join us in advocating for better. Sign up to receive updates on new legislation, opportunities to get involved, and updates on our fight to ensure economic justice for mothers and caregivers!
