Unfair Scheduling: Tell Us About It
We’ve become increasingly alarmed by some of the scheduling practices used in the retail and service sectors — and we’re working to change them in Oregon. Can you help us today by: Sharing your own experiences with “just-in-time” and other unpredictable scheduling practices, and Inviting your friends and family who experience these practices to share […]
Ban the Box, Portland!
On March 11, 2015, our Executive Director Andrea Paluso testified in favor of “banning the box” in the City of Portland. Here is here testimony: We cannot build a sustainable economy or community when we functionally exclude thousands of applicants from accessing employment, as our current system does. People who have been a part of […]
Our 2015 Legislative Agenda
We see an Oregon where all women and families are economically secure & caregiving isn’t a barrier to financial stability. And we’re excited for the opportunities in 2015 to move Oregon forward to work better for all Oregon families, however they are configured. These are the bills we are supporting during the current legislative session to […]

Announcing: Fair Shot for ALL Coalition!
On Thursday, January 7th Family Forward Oregon joined with community and labor groups from across Oregon to launch Fair Shot for All, a new coalition that is supporting solutions to create economic opportunity for Oregon’s working families. As the state’s economy begins to rebound from the recession, flawed economic policies are leaving Oregon’s working families behind and creating a financial crisis for taxpayers.
It’s time to un-stack the deck so everyone has an opportunity to succeed. The people of Oregon need policies that fix our broken economy and give all of us a fair shot.

Plus, we think humor is an incredible messenger, so be prepared to laugh!
Join Us for a Film Screening in Pdx | “The Raising of America”
One of our favorite ways to create a public conversation around the policy issues we care about and work to solve is to gather some folks together and watch a movie – especially one followed by an interesting panel discussion.
Which is why we’re so thrilled that a local partner, the Health Equity Circle @ OHSU, is hosting a screening of a new documentary series called The Raising of America. Click here for details: https://familyforwardoregon.org/2014/11/join-us-watch-the-raising-of-america/
FFO Wins OPHA’s 2014 “Policy Champion” Award
We’re very proud to win this award presented by the Oregon Public Health Association this fall. The award is for “a person or organization that has made an outstanding contribution to advancing public health policy in Oregon.” While we are thrilled to accept, we want to also recognize, in turn, the many partners in our sick days coalition who were right there by our side. We couldn’t have accomplished what we did without them.
